Fashion Design

Description

This internship opportunity was awarded after our strong performance during the Industry Night project, where we were selected to take on client work for Fanshawe College’s Fashion Design program. The project had one clear purpose: to showcase the creativity of the students while promoting the program and its event in a way that would engage viewers from the very first moment. We created a custom website designed to highlight student portfolios, featured work, and program information through a polished and professional digital experience. To support the launch, we also produced a promotional website video and a looping campus display video that brought the student work to life through dynamic motion, clean visuals, and engaging presentation, creating an impactful experience for both prospective students and event attendees.

GOAL

  1. Establish the Sportsnet Saturday Night Hockey intro as a dynamic, engaging sequence that captures the energy and excitement of the broadcast.
  2. Design a fully 3D scene in Cinema 4D that reflects the style, intensity, and cinematic feel of live hockey.
  3. Develop a cohesive motion video that highlights key visual elements, smooth animations, and cinematic camera work to immerse viewers.
  4. Create the final motion video including rendered 3D assets, dynamic animation, and polished effects that effectively sets the tone for Saturday night hockey and resonates with the audience.

PROCESS

The process began with meetings with Rachel Bake, where we discussed her vision and goals for the website and promotional videos for Fanshawe College’s Fashion Design program. From there, we created the Grad Collective logo, designed the website, and developed the final site to showcase student portfolios, featured work, and program information. As the motion designer, I created motion graphic intros to present concepts and gather feedback before moving into production. Working alongside Rin Morito, I used the photos and video clips provided to produce the promotional video that highlighted the program and upcoming event. We also created a looping display video featuring student fashion pieces to be shown at events and across campus. All deliverables were refined through feedback to ensure a cohesive, professional, and engaging final result.

PROBLEM

Creating the promotional and looping videos for Fanshawe College’s Fashion Design program presented several challenges throughout the process. Much of the photo and video content was delivered late, which reduced production time and required quick adjustments to stay on schedule. Many of the clips were also filmed vertically or in lower quality, making them difficult to use in a polished final video and limiting creative options during editing. Another challenge was that this was our first internship project completed independently, with minimal involvement from professors and direct collaboration with an outside client. Working through client communication, feedback, and expectations was a valuable learning experience that introduced a new professional process. Despite these obstacles, adaptability and problem-solving allowed the project to come together as a strong final result that successfully promoted the program and showcased student work.

RESULT / CONCLUSION

The internship project successfully delivered a professional and engaging digital experience that showcased the creativity of Fanshawe College’s Fashion Design program. The completed website highlighted student portfolios, featured work, and program information through a polished and user-friendly design, while the promotional and looping videos brought the brand to life with clean motion, strong visuals, and engaging storytelling. Despite challenges such as late content delivery, unusable footage, and adapting to a new client-based workflow, the final result remained cohesive and impactful across every platform. We completed all deliverables on time and exceeded expectations. I am proud of the girls I worked with for creating an amazing website, the videos turned out incredible, and the client was extremely impressed with the final outcome.
