London Aviation Museum

Description

The London Aviation Museum Internship Project was created with one clear purpose: to modernize the museum through digital innovation and creative marketing. Selected to present on the main stage at Fanshawe’s IDP3 Industry Night alongside two other groups, our team showcased a complete transformation built from scratch. Through a new website, logo, marketing plan, videos, and full front-end and back-end development, the project focused on preserving history while bringing the museum into the digital age for future generations.

GOAL

  1. Establish the London Aviation Museum Internship Project as a modern digital initiative that strengthens the museum’s presence, increases awareness, and connects local history with new audiences.
  2. Design a professional visual identity, including branding and logo development, that reflects the museum’s heritage, innovation, and community impact.
  3. Develop creative marketing concepts that use video and animation to promote the museum’s exhibits, events, and educational experiences in an engaging way.
  4. Create impactful motion graphics, promotional videos, and social media visuals that capture attention, increase audience engagement, and bring the museum’s stories to life.
  5. Support the development of the museum’s website by creating digital media assets and visual content that enhance the front-end experience and strengthen the overall online presence.
  6. Showcase the project at Fanshawe’s IDP3 Industry Night as an example of collaboration, creativity, and industry-ready solutions developed for a real client.

PROCESS

The process began with defining the London Aviation Museum Internship Project’s identity, creating a modern and engaging tone focused on preserving history through digital innovation. A strong visual style was developed to reflect the museum’s legacy, supported by professional branding, a cohesive color palette, and clean typography. Marketing materials including social media graphics, promotional content, and digital assets were designed to increase awareness and attract new visitors. As the Motion Designer, I created five motion videos that served as key promotional pieces, using dynamic editing, animation, and storytelling to showcase the museum’s history, marketing campaigns, website pieces and informational videos. All materials were refined through feedback and collaboration to ensure a cohesive final project that successfully modernized the museum’s presence across multiple platforms.

PROBLEM

One of the main challenges in the London Aviation Museum Internship Project was finalizing the logo design, which remained in development until week 13 of the 4-month timeline. This delay impacted the overall workflow, as the motion videos and branding assets had to be repeatedly updated to reflect constant logo revisions. As the Motion Designer, this meant continuously re-editing and replacing logo animations within After Effects, which slowed down production and created tight turnaround deadlines for final delivery. Another technical issue arose during the post-production phase when exporting motion videos, where unexpected glitch effects appeared in the rendered output. This required troubleshooting within After Effects settings, adjusting compositions, and re-rendering multiple versions to ensure clean, professional final exports. These challenges pushed the team to adapt quickly, maintain consistency under changing conditions, and refine the final visuals despite ongoing revisions.

RESULT / CONCLUSION

The London Aviation Museum Internship Project successfully established a modern digital identity for the museum through a cohesive website, branding system, and marketing campaign. A strong visual direction combined history with contemporary design, helping transform the museum’s presence into something more engaging and accessible for new audiences. The website and supporting marketing materials worked together to showcase the museum’s exhibits, history, and educational value in a clear and impactful way. As the Motion Designer, I created five motion videos that I am extremely proud of, which played a key role in bringing the project to life through storytelling, animation, and promotional content. The final work was presented at Fanshawe’s IDP3 Industry Night in front of 60+ industry professionals and guests, where our project stood out alongside the top teams in the class and received strong positive feedback. Beyond the final outcome, this project was also a major highlight of my time in school. It was the most enjoyable and collaborative experience I’ve had, and it led to strong friendships with my group members while giving me valuable real-world experience in motion design, teamwork, and client-based creative work.
